Bhandarkar has been working since 2004 as a content writer and feature journalist and began creative writing in 2008.
Life has been all about art and writing for Vibhuti Bhandarkar ever since she started her career in Pune in 2004 as a professionally qualified Commercial artist and freelance Eng. Copywriter for top brands and ad agencies in Pune.
In 2005, Vibhuti wrote features for the TOI supplements and Femina until she went ahead and got married to the love of her life, in 2007. In 2008 she successfully launched and ran an Art Gallery and Art Curatorial Services in Pune post which she went on a maternity sabbatical.
Vibhuti’s restless creative genes have never allowed her to put her feet up and relax, ever! Soon she found herself resurfacing as an avid blogger. One more of her life’s targets was achieved as she went on to become a published writer with her maiden collection of short stories, ‘Not Totally Unbelievable’ in 2011. Since then many of her short stories have been published online, and in anthologies. She’s also published a short story collection on Wattpad, and is presently working on a Historical- Supernatural YA Fiction Novel.
Her favourite authors are Amitav Ghosh, RK Narayan, Khaled Hosseini, Dan Brown and many more.
We asked Bhandarkar why we should read her and here’s what she had to say:
Writing is an art, but storytelling is a passion. When life has been a roller-coaster ride that has taught a writer a lesson or two, then the tales shared are ones that you will relate to.
I grew up as the daughter of a country girl who had many supernatural ,and paranormal experiences. And as if it ran in my genes, I had first-hand experiences too, despite living in Bombay city. There is so much to share bottled up in my heart that the only way it’s going to be heard is if my writer’s pen begins to tell it all. You should read my work that’s a heady mix of fiction and true life experiences for the thrills you will miss if you don’t!
