What is Flash Fiction?

According to Wikipedia, Flash fiction is a fictional work of extreme brevity that still offers character and plot development. Identified varieties, many of them defined by word count, include the six-word story, the 280-character story (also known as “twitterature”), the “dribble” (also known as the “minisaga”; 50 words), the “drabble” (also known as “microfiction”; 100 words), “sudden fiction” (750 words), flash fiction (1,000 words), nanotale, and “micro-story”.

Here’s what we are looking for:

Submission Guidelines

  • Word Count: 500 – 1000 words; stories must not exceed 1000 words (title not included)
  • Theme: A chance encounter with an EX after a long while
  • Genre: Erotica / Dark Romance (Remember, we love subtle erotica and not purple prose)
  • Contest is open internationally to everyone above 18 years of age
  • All entries must be in English
  • Only original works that have not been published in print, digital or online publications will be considered. Writers (winners) cannot publish the story elsewhere during and after the contest.
  • Submission fee: FREE submissions accepted until August 25, 2021; INR 100/- per submission thereafter. (Mention Free Submission in Payment ID field on participation form)
  • Format: Type your story on a Word document in a legible font and submit using the participation link at the bottom of this post. Do NOT send us email submissions!
  • Deadline: 23:59 hours IST on September 15, 2021
  • Multiple submissions accepted – 1 story per document, per form submission
  • Results will be announced on our website in October 2021. Winners will be contacted via email; winning submissions will be published in our forthcoming publication and the top three will be eligible for a complimentary copy of the book. All winners will be given a digital certificate of appreciation
