I miss the little girl
who was glee,
like the doll in her tiny hands
I now wish to be.
I’d love to turn back time
‘n have my sequined eyes gleam,
at the sight of happy lit face
of the fille in my everyday dream.
for once, just only once
can I not have that joy?
may be, just may be
I’d feel like an envoy,
but the Mannequin, I’m now
stand with nothing but cotton heart
taking it all, the delight, how?
My soaked heart feels heavy, I depart.

The sun streaming in through the windows
Seems to have opened a portal to the past,
Seems to have awakened the chid within at last.
Filled with hope and energy
I rush to the window, expecting to see
A bright sky and luminous trees
And birds chirping in reverie
But through the window as I gaze
All I see is a white haze
No trees shinning, no people on the road
All I see is smoke and smoke
And the child within which had come alive,
Turns back and again dies.

Amidst the breezy drizzle of the rains,
They cheerfully sat on the park bench
Fervently watching the kids playing around
He collected a few drops in his palm
And sprinkled on her face, she blushed pink
She offered him a lollipop, he demanded more
He made different dolls from the wrappers
She admired his talent and kissed the dolls
The secret of their happiness was spilled
Yes, the child within the septuagenarians was still alive!
Together they watched the rainbow, smiling at them.

Wishing for a summer in the bright spring, with your white lilacs,
My welting white lilies, I reprehensibly interchanged.
Gambled magical past for a future so bland,
Wish I could trade it back.
Now I fill my pockets with stars from galaxies,
For you to set up in your glistening eyes.
I roam around blowing on dandelions,
Stocking up candies for you to return.
On the stars I wish for you.
To smile and hide my greys and blues.

The child within me has lost its way
To the societal pressure, it sways
I am searching for the lost innocence
Every time I close my eyes, I see her staring at me, hence,
This Children’s Day, I will bring
The lost zing
I will laugh, I will dance, I will sing, I will play
Do what my heart says
Munch candies and watch cartoon
For myself, I will even buy a balloon
Newer memories, fresh experiences, I want to create
In my heart would forever be etched the day and date

I often become wordless in the wilderness
when the child within me emerges.
She is in awe of nature’s magic;
Of how the butterflies appear so beautifully from their cocoon
The spots on a ladybird, their delicate details, the colors perfectly in contrast
Of how the fuzzy petals of a dandelion fly away even with the lightest whiff of air
The river determining its own path through the trickiest of bedrock
And when her heart is full of nature’s glory
She promises herself to learn from its pace- patient, perseverant, quietly powerful.

The child within me is trapped;
in the clutches of peer pressure and society expectations.
It desires long ignorant hours of sleep,
A phase where no one detests you.
The Golden early days,
When the flight of imagination knew no bounds,
Sweets kept the unhappiness away.
Where money was simply a bunch of leaves,
and colorful papers of a board game.
Who is my warden;
I wonder!

The days of fun, frolic and girly giggles
Puddles of rain and colorful sailing boats
The sweet fragrance of soil
The grey overcast skies
Gurgling clouds
No fear of soiling clothes
The life sans worries
Getting drenched in a downpour
Washing off my fears and desires
In the cacophony of life
The child within yearns for carefree dreamy days
Shielded from the selfishness and deceitfulness
Of this morally shattered world
Where innocence kept me fresh!

I opened the gate of my magical carefree earth
Suddenly, my soul exuviated
the branches of my ego,
Oh, I entered the life basked in the innocence warmth,
Where the paper planes could take me anywhere to go.
I cherished the buoyant spirit of childhood
Drenched in love-giggles, laughter, and in viridescent wood.
As I knocked on every door, wall or what not, with the spirit free
That rekindled the innocent child within me

The child within jumps with joy,
Every time there’s a holiday or a festival,
Whenever she is able to go out she becomes radiant,
Whenever someone gifts her a pleasant surprise,
And, if someone pauses to pamper her,
With a loving and affectionate touch,
She smilingly falls asleep and dreams of good things,
She still believes life to be generous and abundantly merry,
As she still manages to forgive and forget,
For laughter to stay perennial in the house.

The child within me wants my mom’s kisses to wake me up,
The child within me wants to run and open the door for my papa again,
The child within me wants to jump on my brother’s shoulder and feel like super girl all over again.
The child within me wants to be loved like before,
The child within me wants to be scolded again,
The child within me needs a tight hug,
The child within me needs assurance,
The child within me needs acceptance,
The child within me sometimes needs to be consoled again,
The child within me needs to be told “its ok”,
If i had a bad dream,
The child within me just needs those cuddles back….which would put me to sleep.

The child within me dreams of sliding rainbows and unicorns,
And believe that angels have wings and devil horns,
The child within me dreams of gliding across the sky on cloud,
And want to shout my heart out that the world is beautiful out loud,
I want to swim with the mermaids,
N want to see how the sea horses were tamed,
Want to travel through time,
Erase all the hunger, war caused for the greed of dime,
Want every child to be educated… not neglected,
It just wants world peace and harmony.

Child in Me The child in me is in deep slumber,
Enjoying it’s nap, I wonder!
The sight of a playground,
Or the petrichor welcoming the rain to the ground.
The air carrying the flavor
Of noodles that I want to devour,
Chocolates and candies in plenty,
Oh! I feel they never go empty.
All these wake up the sleeping child,
Who wishes that no one ever chides.

Everyone found the child within
Even after a years so locked away
In responsibilities & In browsing maturity
If only we could reach in and touch
Loving, living & embracing needing so much
Musically plays an innocence of browsing mind
All we need some hug so tight
As feelings emerge with hurt & fright
Everyone found the child within
In midst of chaos & hurricane
Browsing mind of innocence never fails the charm
That’s all we need to survive
To alive the child within.

I may have grown old,
But child within me is still bold!
Like a little child, I like to scream and shout,
At times, an uninhibited me let my inner child walk out!
I may have crow feet and wrinkles now,
But my child like nature doesn’t let my heart feel low!
Never bother about what will people say,
Don’t let your inner child die, come what may!
Maturity of age with carelessness of child is a deadly combination,
Let the child within you live forever, life shall be a celebration!
