She packed her bags, sliding on the red bracelet from her father.

“This will keep us closer”, he’d said, leaving for the war that took his life.

She had suffered her husband’s abuse enough. She had to get out quickly. If he set out to find her, he would be successful.

The police assured her that he would be punished. Her father would be proud, he’d raised her to be brave.

The next morning came with a stroke of tragedy. An unidentified wounded body was found on the city outskirts.

All that was found, was a red bracelet. Her father was right, the bracelet had finally brought them closer.
